![]() Betting on NBA totals can be rather difficult depending on the sportsbook you use. Since NBA games are rather unpredictable, most sports betting handicappers tend to put a lot of faith in the odds makers hands. What we have found when it comes to NBA totals is that each teams style of play should be taken into account prior to betting the over or under. For instance when two high octane offensive based teams face off, totals can be predicted in the 200 to 210 point range. On the other hand though when two defensive minded teams face one another, the total can drop by as many as 30 to 40 points. During last season, we found the average total per game to go between 190 to 200 points. However in a five year study, from the 2004 to 2009 seasons, it was discovered that 444 games had a total of 220 or higher. This astounding number can be broken down further and show that a blind bettor only focusing on totals going over would accumulate a profit of just over 50 percent. Before making a decision on whether to bet the over or under in each game, you should always make this prediction based on previous information. As we noted above, the blind bettor does not get that rich off going over. But they also do not get that rich betting the under. For instance, in the same study mentioned above two interesting trends formed in the 444 games that had a total of 220 and above. |
