With the start of the college football season right around the corner, many sports betting fans are curious which players are likely to stand out in fantasy this year. Here are the five top college free picks who will likely take part in the draft next year. For NCAA football betting these five are all but locks to go to the draft in 2011.
- Linebacker Greg Jones Senior Michigan State – Jones was last season’s best defensive player although ultimately being overlooked for the Butkus in favor of Crimson Tide star Rolando McClain. To say Jones was a machine last season is an understatement. He led Michigan State with 154 tackles, and nine sacks.
Jones forte is the rush defense and his explosive but steady repertoire make him deadly. His role isn’t really suited for the pass but if need be he can fill in on the outside line just as adequately.
- Runningback Mark Ingram Junior Alabama – Last season’s Heisman Trophy winner returns for another season with the Crimson Tide. Expect him to go number one at the 2011 NFL draft he can duplicate last season’s numbers. Ingram is legitimately the main piece to the Alabama machine. In his rookie season he put up an impressive 728 yards and 12 touchdowns. However nobody could predict his season last year as a sophomore as he ran for over 1000 yards and 17 touchdowns to go along with 32 receptions and 338 yards. We expect the same this season.
- Runningback John Clay Junior Wisconsin – Clay is the reigning Big 10 player of the year and looks to add a Heisman Trophy to his mantle at home. Clay similar to Ingram ran for over 1000 yards last season with 18 touchdowns. What separates Clay from his peers is his ability to turn it up in the big game. He devoured Miami’s defense in the bowl game last year running for 121 yards and then 151 against the Michigan Wolverines.
- Defensive End Robert Quinn Junior North Carolina – At a school known more for its basketball program than its football, a strong defensive end could surly be over looked. Enter Robert Quinn who leads an astounding seven North Carolina stars who were named All Americans. What’s scary for teams is that he is the best of the Seven.
- Quarterback Terrell Pryor Junior Ohio State – After being the highest projected quarterback in the 2008 recruiting class, many believed Pryor would be in the NFL by now. However, with his late blooming in the college game, the expectations for Pryor as a junior are quite high. Consider anything short of a Heisman nomination to be a disappointing year for the Buckeye star.
