On October 15, 2011 Bernard Hopkins looks to continue his sports betting reign as WBC Light Heavyweight Champion, by knocking out challenger Chad Dawson. The 46 year old Hopkins, is looking to further his record as the oldest boxing champion in the history of the sport. However, facing a motivated Chad Dawson will make Hopkins fishing games job a lot more difficult then even he can expect. Here is a preview of the fight.

At 52- five-two with 32 knockouts, Bernard Hopkins is considered by many fans and analysts alike to be one of the best power punchers in the sport today. In a recent interview with East Side Boxing, Hopkins, explained that his plan against Dawson is to knock him out early. The reason for this approach, is that Hopkins, believes a quick defeat of the young challenger, will allow Hopkins the opportunity to make a statement for all fighters at his age.

Despite having 32 bookie software knockouts, Hopkins hasn’t knocked out an opponent in nearly seven years, when he stopped the Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya for the Welterweight title.  Since moving up from Welterweight, Hopkins has fought 11 times and has yet to come near a knockout victory over his opponents. The general belief is that due to moving up in class, Hopkins has lost the power that he had in the prime of his career.

At this point of his career, Hopkins is more of a hold on fighter rather then a power puncher. On the other hand, fans shouldn’t expect the younger Dawson to knockout Hopkins, as Dawson’s 17 knockouts in 32 career fights, suggest he is more of a tactical fighter then a heavy hitter.
