If you're an avid follower of the WEC, you may be surprised by what you see when you tune into the PPV on Saturday night. While sportsbook cappers are busy trying to pick fights, many media pundits are intrigued that this show will look far more like a UFC broadcast than a WEC one. In the final moments leading up to the event, Zuffa execs announced the show would be staged by the UFC's production team, complete with Goldberg, Rogan, and the owner of the Buffer 360, none other than Bruce Buffer himself. Regardless of how the show will look, of Zuffa's long-term plans for the WEC brand, the card boasts some serious fight action. Aldo is a lock over Faber. While Faber has phenomenal wrestling and a much-improved striking game, he is absolutely no match for Aldo on the feet, and if the fight stays there for any length of time, Faber is in trouble. Fans of UFC betting know that Benson Henderson vs. Donald Cerrone is another great fight. Henderson took a unanimous decision in their last bout, but it was marred by controversy. Many, including this humble writer, felt the decision was unjust, and felt that Cerrone clearly won the last bout. However, Cerrone's atrocious takedown defense will cause him more problems in this fight. Henderson knows what he was to do to beat Cerrone, and expect him to get it done. In other action, Mike Thomas Brown is a safe bet over Manny Gamburyan, and Pettis will absolutely destroy Karalexis. Anthony Njokuani vs. Shane Roller is another great fight - I'm picking the underdog Roller in that one. WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber takes place from Arco Arena in Sacramento, and will be broadcast live on PPV on Saturday Night. |
